Built in 1894, the Tower Bridge was a masterpiece of engineering. Originally powered by steam energy, the bridge now uses electricity in order to be raised when ships need to pass. If you would like to see the bridge in motion you can check the times online on the official Tower Bridge Website.
There is an exhibition on the history of the Tower Bridge and other bridges situated in the high level walkways, which you have to pay to get into (approx. £8.00 per Person, reduced rates are available). Up there you can enjoy stunning views of the London Panorama. The ticket also includes a trip to the Victorian engine rooms and a virtual bridge lift. Group rates are available and so are personal guided tours for bigger groups. Just make sure to book in advance and get in touch with the Tower Bridge group bookings desk.
